The Appropriate Technology Centre (ATC) was established by the Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE) to undertake applied research for bridging technological gap in effort to catalyze access to Safe Water, Sanitation and upholding Environmental integrity.

Our Objectives:

  1. Undertake innovative applied research and development on appropriate technologies and approaches for water, sanitation and environment sector.
  2. Carry out capacity building of sector actors as a mechanism to strengthen appropriate technologies service chain.

The Appropriate Technology Centre (ATC) is dedicated to advancing water, sanitation, and environmental solutions through comprehensive research, development, and implementation of appropriate technologies.

  • Technology Validation: Through our Technology Applicability Framework (TAF), we profile and validate technologies to ensure they meet sector standards and user needs.

  • Technology Demonstration: We showcase and popularize acceptable innovative technologies through practical demonstrations and pilot projects.
